The annual "Lets go Batty" bat talk and walk was fully subscribed and proved to be a very enjoyable evening. Peter Claughton who led the session was able to take 153 recordings via his bat monitor. This indicated that he had picked up 124 Common Pipistrelles, 32 Soprano Pipistrelles, 5 Noctule / Serotine / Leislers, 6 Daubentons and 3 Brandt’s / Whiskered bats. This must be a record for Lake Meadows, which, in recent years, has proved to be a very good local site for bats.

Much to the delight of the gardeners, Lake Meadows had its first rainfall in over 2 months. This week the gardeners used about 150 buckets of water to try and keep the plants going.

We held our 12th "Jazz in the Park" event

The large audience were able to enjoy the warm weather because of the cooling breeze. "Nimrod & Friends", "Replacement Hipsters" and "The Jam" entertained us all and Nimrod was able to have three of his students on stage as well.

Volunteers from AXA came to the park and despite the rain managed to construct two "stumperies" for us before retreating from the park absolutely drenched. A big thank you.

Lake Meadows Terrapins have been seen for years but this one decided to sun bathe conveniently on the tree stump for all to see.

The 100metre long Rhododendron Bed is a blaze of colour at the moment

The Early Morning Bird Walk was very successful with the group being lucky enough to identify 33 species either visually or by their song. A big thank you to Neil Sumner for leading it again.
